Why RV?

I notice that a lot of threads on this site consist of a lot of gripes - what we hate about other campers, what problems we've had, etc. So I'd like to see a thread where we all list the reasons we enjoy RVing. What makes you get off your butts and go out there? Looking for positive and encouraging posts.

For me, I'm a part-timer who just came back from a week long trip along the Washington and Oregon Coast. Spent last night at Dosewallips State Park along the Hood River, and woke up to expected rain this morning. I opened the blinds and found a herd of 40 Roosevelt Elk grazing in the campground not 50 yards away! The dog had to wait a bit for his morning walk, as we enjoyed watching these magnificent creatures peacefully working their way along between the campers.
  • DW & I thought (briefly) about a summer cabin but quickly dismissed it as being too confining. Now we think about what's in a 1 or 2 day drive and if it has water for the canoe.
  • living in south central TX, we seek cooler climes in the summer and look for autumn colors in the fall.
  • My wife and I love to go to National Forest,COE or State Parks where there's plenty of room between sites. We love being in the woods where we can go for walks with the dog or bicycle rides. We love cooking on the grill and sitting by a nice fire. And now that we have grand kids,we enjoy doing all those things with them.
