Why were all the RV's left in the flood?

I understand that sometimes you can't move an RV when the water is coming up but it looks like there's a lot of RV's that were just left to flood. I mine were there I'd have moved it up the road and out of the coming flood. Maybe some people didn't have gas money??? It would be cheaper on the insurance company to give the people 300 bucks for gas to move it. When there's this much warning, it seems like a bunch of them could have been moved.

Short run, long run? Not being in the RV insurance business, I wouldn't speculate like you have.
  • They probably figure why bother if insured. If the insurance companies are overwhelmed they will do what they did 20 or so years ago when Fl was hit hard and will just spread it out on all of our premiums and the rate never goes back down. Wont be surprised to see it happen again.

What do you mean by "this much warning?" The first NWS warning about a potential hurricane and heavy rains came on the morning of Wednesday, Aug 23, when it was still a tropical depression. Harvey hit as a cat 4 on Friday night, and ended up dumping 3x the amount of rain originally forecast. I saw lots of news coverage in between of people boarding up their houses, stocking groceries, etc. They had bigger and more important things to do than moving RVs in the short period of time they had to prepare.
  • In that situation, I'd have to either leave the SUV or the RV behind since it's just me. I'd take the RV since it would allow me to camp out in the driveway of a friend or family member and be a safe place for the critters.
  • I,d bet a lot of rv,s cars etc were moved we just don,t here about it ,I would,
  • Could be a number of reasons
Owners not currently in the area
Permanent residents without an adequate tow vehicle
    Owners ill and not able
    No money to go anywhere
A person on another forum just had his new 5er delivered and set up in Port Aransas but his new ordered truck not to arrive for several weeks
