Why do you have a filter if you don't drink the water? I would have a filter if I did drink the water, but really don't see the need if you're just using it for showering and such. It's all going down the drain and you're not drinking any, just kind of seems like a waste of money to filter water to flush the toilet.
You really DON'T want that amount of sediment in your water heater, sink, toilet, and shower head. Rust makes ugly stains.
It probably IS safe to drink, although drinking water standards place limits on the amount of suspended solids, and on general appearance. But it might not taste particularly good.
Unless you have a sub-micron filter, which probably wouldn't work in a RV system, a filter is not going to remove harmful organisms from your water.
No filter will remove totally dissolved material. But a filter like the OP has will remove fine suspended solids. A carbon filter will remove chlorine and a lot of other things that give water an unpleasant taste.
So really a RV filter system is for appearance and taste, not safety.
And they can add a safety issue too---one that sits for a long time can become a breeding spot for things that WILL make you sick. If you use your RV only occasionally, remove the filter and replace it before trips.
