Wide Stance Axles Vs. Conventional

Jayco's larger Fiberglass exterior line has wide stance axles but all the other TT's, fivers and PU's seem to have the conventional axles. The wide stance axles are touted as being better when towing.

What makes them better, and if they're so great then why don't ALL of their trailers have them?

  • We have a Sunset Trail and they call it Secure Stance. Many large trailers have a spread axle. My nephew is a trucker and he calls them California Spreaders. They should aid in front to back porpoising by spreading the weight across more area.
  • It is to make the TT ride better and spread out the wt. My first thought was they would cause the tire to wear faster by draging on turns, but all dual axels do that, and TT ST tires don't last that long so I bought the TT.
  • Better stability. I wish more would have it. Why do all the nascar haulers have split axles?
