We don't leave our dog alone very often either and when we do it's only for a couple of house. We do not monitor when gone. She isn't a barker and in 8 yrs have never had anyone say they heard her bark (her breed is a quiet breed). As far a temperatures. It won't change much from what it was when we left within a couple hour period but we always leave either the furnace or a/c on set at a comfortable temperature.
