Two ways to look at this: if you and your husband just really want to go see it for yourselves at this point in your life, then by all means - do it. That is, don't let a toddler hold you back. It will just take some extra work and planning.
However, if you're doing it for the benefit of the child, forget it now and wait until they are older.
Some of our most memorable trips with our boys were to state parks less than 5 hrs from home. Less time in the truck, more time at the parks, and good memories are made everywhere.
We took them to Yellowstone last summer (ages 13 and 16), and loved it.
Just do what you feel is right for you.
