It's the sorry state of liability that necessitates signage. How many read the printed rules? If you do, do you read them out to everyone in your party? Those obtrusive signs are there to protect you and yours from hazards they otherwise may not see or realize, and us from that lack of self education.
By Federal law we have no diving signs at our 3'6" pool, for the obvious reason. Everyone accepts that sign without question, understands why it is there.
The necessity of safety signage is dictated to us by lawyers, insurance and experience.
What hazards or behavior do Hotels need to press your awareness of?
Campgrounds are a much more complex environment with natural features, weather, guests wishes. Balancing the wishes of everyone is a daunting task. Thus a sign for those who do not read.
State Parks do not need to post rules like a private business. the playing field is not level.
