I thought I would start a discussion on blowing the trailer water lines out with air vs pumping anti freeze into the lines.I have done both. When I blow out with air I do fill the p traps with antifreeze.

This has been discussed several times in the past few days.There's not a lot to discuss, some use air, some use the pink stuff and some use both.We all use pink stuff in the traps and toilet. :)Did you have a question about the different methods?Maybe I'm not understanding your post.

Just wondering if one method is better or preferred over the other.

I use both. I just don't trust that I can get all the water out using only air. Also blowing most of the water out leaves less water to dilute the antifreeze.

From what I've seen, it is a personal choice.I have also done both, I prefer air only. Some will blow the lines with air and then pump in antifreeze. They feel the antifreeze eliminates the possibility of remaining water and, it lubes the valves.Some feel it's quicker to add antifreeze than blow out the linesOthers don't like the taste of antifreeze and find it is necessary to flush the lines several times.Also, some like air only because they will sometimes go camping during the winter. It's easier to get it ready and then winterize when done.Everyone agrees, use antifreeze in the traps and toilet.I've used air only for a few years and have had no problems during our Pennsylvania winters.Hope this helps.

Here is my thread from 6 weeks ago asking a similar question. The answers directly address your question. I decided to stay with the pink stuff.

I've done both. Prefer anti-freeze. Can see most of my lines with the pink stuff. Peace of mind that all water is out. Add to traps. Plus I understand some water pumps like to have the lubercation for longer term storage.

Also, note that if you have a clothes washer, you will need to run pink stuff through that. Air won't cut it.

In the past I used the pink stuff to keep the pump parts and seats from drying out. Probably not much drying happens the other way though.

Now I just live in it all winter to keep an eye on everything.

can do the same thing if you flush with antifreeze then you know it is winterproof, then blow out the AF.
it takes me about 1 1/2 gallon of AF to be sure of no water left standing in a low spot.
