Actually I leave about 5 gallons of water, yes water in my black tanks even here in Northern Wisconsin where temps can get down to 30 below or lowerer. Remember if water has a chance to expand,and those are plastic tanks, not steel or cement they will give. Besides that is less than 10% of the available room in the black tank.
