Does anyone have a wireless back up camera on their trailer? I'm doing some research and looking for opinions. What brand do you have? I was looking at the Yada on autoanything for $179. It says you can have multiple cameras. Thanks

I had a wireless on my lass 5er and went wired this time. I won't go back to wireless ever again. I didn't like the broken signals and I didn't like going through towns looking at screens with baby cribs or offices. It always amazed me at how far it would pick up an office camera but wouldn't stay locked on to the camera just 40' away on the back of the 5er. LOL

I attach my wireless back up camera to the wall of our pole barn cover when I back in the 5er (32' 5er) and the signal is ok. Not solid, a lot of flutter, but tells me how far back I can go.

I put on a wired camera. Heard of too many issues with wireless. The wired unit works great. It has a large color screen that is very clear. Day and night vision also. It also has a microphone so I can hear my wife screaming at me when I'm backing up. :-) I routed the wire down the ladder, under the trailer up to the hitch. If you don't want to have to run it in the vehicle through the window you will need a second cable so you can disconnect. I just use one cable. I route the wire under my pickup cover and into the rear door of the truck. It works fine. Just remember to disconnect it before you pull away from the trailer. :-)

This is pretty much what I'm doing. WiFi router for the trailer directly to 12v line (so it's always live as long as there is battery power). Several weatherproof IP Cams mounted on the outside of the trailer and directly wired to 12v. Any of various IP Cam Apps from Google App store on tablet or phone. This started as a "rearview mirror," but now I use the setup to monitor the trailer when we are away. The router can connect to our house internet and I can login and view anywhere I have internet, which means I can also monitor the trailer remotely while we're traveling as long as the trailer router is connected to the web via either a host's internet or our Verizon Mobile Hotspot.

I'd try Camera Source for all of your Camera needs. They offer very high quality Camera kits that can virtually give you a 360* angle and lane coverage from the rear of your trailer to the front grill of your vehicle. If you have factory Navigation it becomes the screen for the camera whenever you use your turn signals, backup lights and front camera all based on your gear position and forward speed. It doesn't get any better.

Not sure...The battery only last about 15 minutes for the total drone. I've not disconnected the camera to see how long the battery lasts.

I just bought a drone with a camera that works through wifi using an app for the drone. No internet required and it works up to 100 yards away. Amazing video quality. The whole drone, with the camera was $100. Video quality is better than the backup camera I'm currently using.

In summary, the only thing I am really missing is the camera. Netgear came so close to solving this riddle for me with the introduction of the Arlo camera system. These are great little cameras but have two major flaws for my use case. Internet is required. They use a proprietary protocol to harness video feeds.

Maybe I am reaching for the stars here, but I am going to figure this out.

I didn't want the hassle of installing a wired unit. The rear door on the toy hauler prevents running a wire down the back of the camper. This one works for me. The picture is not super high resolution and is not brightly colored like the picture on the box, but it is steady. I bought a refurbished one. I am satisfied with it. I just need to turn on the running lights to get power to the camera.

I bought a refurbished one from this outfit, $390 shipped. Check with them to see if they have a refurbished one.
