The OP wasn't complaining about the starting point. He was complaining that using his current rig as a trade in makes no difference in the price of the rig than if he doesn't trade it in.
That's simple math. They'll pay off his rig for what he owes (which by his statements is more than it is worth). That equals 0 (zero). No change to the price of the new rig.
