I'm used to paying $4.50 per us gallon. I do try to plan my trips so that I have no back tracking.
When servicing pianos I tend to go in large loops. I've been known to swap tuning for fuel, when working at a farm.
If it went to $7 I might fly rather than travel 4800 miles round trip.
