Would RV manufacturer have extra accessories for purchase?

Our TT has a bunk house in the back next to the bathroom. It has a curtain that is on a runner with little round bracket type things that fit in a runner on the trailer ceiling. So the curtain slide on that runner to close off the bunk house. However, the curtain doesn't cover barely half the bunk. So if the boys want to sleep and we might still be up with a light on, the light still shines right into their bunks.

If I were handy and a sewer, maybe I could make something to fit - but I'm not. Do you know if there is a way to buy accessories from the manufacturer? Could I buy another one of these curtains from a dealer or Keystone who made our TT?

The top couple inches is just mesh, to allow for air circulation... but even so, we found that having the curtain all the way across quickly causes the bunks to get extremely "stuffy". Every night the last person to go to bed tries to remember to pull back that curtain to allow for air movement. Just something to think about when getting new curtains!

This is mostly to keep light out while dh and I may still be awake. I would open it before we went to sleep to let air, AC air or heat get to the bunks. But the boys were grumbling that light was shining into their bunks and I thought another curtain would nice to have for light blocking at bedtime.

I would imagine RV Parts and appliances etc are a booming business all around ELKHART Indiana where most of the Rv's are assembled.

Was driving through Texarkana AR/TX where several hugh government property disposal facilities are located. One hugh place is called Red River Army Depot...

Surplus Property sales businesses are setup all over the area there. I actually saw a Rocket Launcher on wheels for sale at one place along I30 near New Boston...

This was one of the disposal areas that had the non-used SURPLUS FEMA trailers destined for Hurricane Katrina lined up as far as you could see.

  • Craigslist. Lot of retired folks that still know how to sew and offer their services for a reasonable price. Some of the old fashion cleaners will have a seamstress on board also. At least that way you can pick out the material you want and the size.

That's what I did. I found a retired lady that sewed me up some curtains for the cab over in my first Class C and she did a very professional job.
  • This would depend upon the manufacturer of the trailer or RV but many do supply their authorized service centers with parts. They will usually order these for their customers from the factory. Some centers have accessory shops in which they stock some of these parts for the rigs that they sell. Check with a dealer of your trailer and ask if they will order replacements for you. For my RV this can be done and others do this as well.
  • Or just iron a ribbon or twill tape to the edge of the curtains with Stitch Witchery; no sewing needing and maybe 20 bucks in materials.
  • Thanks! I hadn't thought about a seamstress. But I'll check with keystone dealership and see if it is something they could get for me. Glad to hear someone did have some success by contacting manufacturer/dealership.
  • When we purchased our Keystone 199ml, the model came without sink covers. My wife finally decided she wanted some and contacted our dealer (American RV in GR) and asked our salesman. He was able to get it from the manufacturer (Keystone) for us, and for a very reasonable price.

    Give it a try.
  • You need to contact an RV dealer who sells that particular brand of TT, but some of the larger RV parts houses may be able to help you out too. Another solution which may end up costing less and be better quality is to have a seamstress make a curtain for you, good place to find out who does sewing is go to a fabric store like JoAnn's or something. Camping World probably has the little hooks or whatever you need to clip onto the new curtain.
