I have a padlocked toolbox fitted to a front hitch. In it I carry about all my tools, a total of about 200 pounds.
At home, I remove the toolbox and use my tools from it. So, I don't need two sets of tools or have to remember what to bring with me on trips.
It's really nice to have tools on the road when things go wrong.
A side benefit for me is the weight of the tools compensates for the weight removed from the front axle by the travel trailer. This negates the need for any weight-transfer bars on the rear hitch.
