Wrangler Unlimited 4 down towing

Anyone towing one of these behind a class A? The wife wants to trade in her 2005 Dodge Durango for a Jeep wrangler unlimited. We have been talking about upgrading to a fifth wheel in the future but she likes Class A motorhomes. I have been told that most jeeps can be towed 4 down but I'm not sure where to find info on this. This particular model jeep seems like it would be rather heavy so that's another consideration.

    Not behind a class A, but I do tow my 2009 Jeep Unlimited behind my class C. They are great to tow, just make sure you get the right tow bar, toad brakes and light set-up. Also watch the linkage for the transfer case. These are known to break easily if forced.

    go to a dealer, check owner's manual of the exact one you want, and go from there.

    Ahhhh come on you should be able to convince her SHE really wants a Rubicon. Yes I have seen tons of both toad. X2 what jhlady said.

    Thanks for the info. Getting a 5er or class A is at least several years down the road but I wanted to make sure if she got a Jeep that is was capable of being towed 4 down in case we go the Class A direction.

    If I was buying a Jeep, it wouldn't be an automatic but she has never driven a manual transmission. I tried to get her to drive my old Ford Ranger 5 speed but never could get her to try it.

    It must be a 4X4, and have a neutral position on the transfer case.

    It depends on which Jeep model. Wranglers can be towed 4 down but the Patriot cannot whether it is 4x or not due to a constant velocity transmission. The 2x Jeeps cannot be towed 4 down either. We know all this because we tow a 2012 Jeep Liberty behind our class A.

    Pretty sure the OP specified a Wrangler Unlimited.

    The Jeep must be a 4X4, with the NEUTRAL position in the transfer case.
    The instructions for towing are in the Owners Manual.
    As for the transmission, there really is little difference. My son has an '03 Rubicon with automatic tranny, and mine is an '06 Rubicon Unlimited with the 6 speed manual. When crawling over the rocks, either is great, and on the highway both are trouble free. It is purely personal choice.
