Did the same trip last year from the Chicago Burbs last year with my 02 Excursion. It had 95k miles on it. Mine is very well maintained, replaced fuel pump at 60k miles as preventative maintenance. All fluids are done every 25k miles. plugs done at 50k and again at 90k.
If you are up on the maint. then it should be a non issue. You also don't want to forget about the trailer tires, bearings and brakes. I had new tires installed for that trip, repacked the wheels bearings and installed new complete brake assembly`s.
Just got back a month ago from our NYC/Jersey City/Cape May trip. and again no issue!
Oh, and BTW....an 06 isn`t old! :M
