But there are many of us, including myself, that have used these principles to get up mountain passes with engines nearing the red line. I climbed out of Palm Desert when the temperature at the gas station read 117 in the shade, up the long hill with all of the above and just watched my engine and transmission temperature as we went up.
I never had to do any of this. Engine did not get hot. Transmission did. About 230 or 235. Just stopped at the top and let it cool.
