Might be a few hills? The "hills" don't get any bigger than in the Rockies, especially for a na engine.
I did not address the OP's "down through the Rockies" leg of the intended trip. But there will most certainly be more than hills, even on the freeway crossing the rockies (I 70 and I 90 at least).
But you can get to Yellowstone without any nosebleed pulls, from S dakota.
