Yellowstone with an older Tow Vehicle...Would you?
Looking well ahead, my wife and I would like to take the kids on a western swing out through the Dakotas, onto Yellowstone, and then maybe down through the Rockies. If we are to do it, however, it would have to be in 2020 with our 2006 Suburban 2500.
We are towing well within limits (8.1L engine towaing at about 75% of max rating), and the truck has had no significant issues. But, still, it would be a 15 year-old gasser pulling into the mountain grades of the west. I don't even blink when thinking about taking it through the Appalachian ranges, but the western peaks give me pause.
So, in short, would you tackle the western mountains with a 15 year old gasser?
