They are putting round-a-bouts on a lot of two lane highways, particularly those that carry a lot of traffic. The thinking is that these deter accidents and that may be true but dang, they are inconvenient. Also, there is the occasional Old Boy that hasn't traveled the route for awhile and ends up on top of the round-a-bout.
A roundabout designed properly on a rural highway doesn't slow you down much at all....in fact if designed properly they can be fun in a sports car.
The biggest problem is they all too frequently make the too constricting which slows traffic too much.
I have no sympathy for those that can't handle roundabouts and go straight or turn the wrong way into them.
