Were I to recommend and do it all over again, I'd buy two EU2000i models with the above mentioned parallel kit. This way, I can run either generator when I need power just to charge batteries or run small items (and swap between generators to balance hours used), then use both when running the A/C or microwave.
I'd also recommend the following accessories to make life easier:
- An extended run tank system that supports two generators, or two tanks. If you can, get the system that has plastic fuel camps, rather than CNC metal -- less chance of stripping the plastic threads on the Honda itself.
- Reinforcing handle brackets. Amazing how many Hondas pop up on various Craigslist iterations with cut handles. These are easy to install, and should be considered a must.
- A LowPro Lockdown bracket for each Honda. I'd use that in combination with a hitch mounted cargo rack (if possible), or another solid surface. A steel cable is a theft deterrent, this bracket turns what would be five seconds with bolt cutters into a couple minutes with a crowbar, and even then, the thief will have most (not all) of the generator.
- An hour meter for each generator. This helps you balance the amount of wear and tear.
Hondas are not perfect, but for the size, quiet, and ease of finding parts (trust me, Hondas are the king of parts availability. With my Yamaha generator, I have to order via mail order and pay shipping costs that are more expensive than the item itself, while a Honda can get parts almost anywhere), Hondas are well worth it.
