- SlowmoverExplorerThe overseas trips were known as Caravans. Some covered in National Geographic. A few surviving trailers still around. Cape Town to Cairo the most impressive, IMO.
- Tutorman57ExplorerYes International Harvester TravelAll
the pictures are not theirs but it is what they drove. And the Airstream is newer than theirs. But you get the Idea. - hwy395lvrExplorerLooks like an International Harvester TravelAll

For years this is what my grandparents drove. They never had a regular car.
And they pulled an AirStream back and forth to Florida every year.
And even went overseas with it.
Air Stream used to offer tours around the world. I forget the name of them but they were very popular in the 50's - Grit_dogNavigator II

Amazing. Curious what that thing weighs. Full size appliances, porcelain plumbing fixtures and hardwood must add up. What from the 50's would pull that?
Super cool camper!
Based on the views of some on here, that thing couldn't be pulled by anything less than a semi truck in 1953! - BrianinMichiganExplorerOur neighbor worked for Vagabond Coach in Brighton Michigan.I don't know if there were any other factories. Out of that same factory came the Rectrans Discover Motor homes after Vagabond went belly up.
- SlowmoverExplorerWallace collection has great stuff. I came across the Silver Streak truck camper years ago. But the linked "article" was intentionally deceptive, and not their doing.
- CavemanCharlieExplorer IIII love it. Thanks for posting.
- NJRVerExplorerLike that original green asbestos floor tile.
- SCVJeffExplorerYeah.. It wouldn't suprise me if this came straight out of a place like Flyte Camp.
Was there even paint pigment that bright back then, or did they just choose this color?
