No they are not made of the same materials.
It's not about the taste it's about the lead. Garden hoses are allowed to have lead commonly found in garden hoses, AND, BPA, or phthalates (plasticizers), in them.
Hoses marked for drinking water are 'supposed' to not have any lead etc in them. Albeit buy one of those RV Chinese made one and the hose won't have lead but the metal connectors do. :R
