If the spring is broken and you want to lock the roller till you can get it fixed try this. Re-bend the awning pull down rod so the bend that pulls the loop is about 10 inches or more long. walk to the back of the roller tube. You should be able to see a hole in the roller end cap this is the same hole you use to replace the pull down strap. stick the pull down rod into this hole now the rod will be hanging down along the side of the awning arm with the loop at the bottom. get a lenght of rope run it through the awning rod loop and a hole on the awning leg foot. Tie the ends of the rope together pulling it tight and your awning roller is now locked in place and can not unroll. No need to buy special awning locks.
