Nope, you see the wiring picture above.
No 12V involved in add-on element.
What is surprising that 120V rated control light comes on with 9V, but that is how they work.
I might follow Drew suggestion and rewire the light to neutral instead of ground, but now everything is deep behind cabinets and not my priority.
