sorry slow follow up
starter is in, and generator is running fine
still need to take a couple pictures of that splash guard/flange
to help clarify what i posted

hopefully you get correct part with that part number. that is old, superceded number. current Onan part number is 191-2416.
Good luck with that repair. The older Onan Marquis series generators were great units, imho.

did some exploring and dissamebly today

the back side 'splash plate' ?

is just a flange that can be removed to give access to the starter and fuel pump

3 screws hold it to the bottom of the RV
4 bolts (2) on each end, hold it to 'pan' holding the Onan

it was not easy getting a socket or wrench on the inside to hold the bolt head
while i undid the 1/2 nut on the outside
but the flange out of the way access to the starter is much better
will have it running again by Sunday afternoon

found it on amazon $56 be here on Tuesday

nothing is going to get here any faster, some are cheaper both amazon and ebay
but won't get here until the the 31st or later
