The difference isn't enough so that most users will even notice.
The "purist" insists that AGM needs higher voltage but they really don't "need" it for any practical reason.
Having a 3 stage converter is the best upgrade you can make......even if it doesn't provide the absolute optimum voltages for the batteries you have at the moment.
Keeping the connections clean and tight and keeping the electrolyte from getting low is usually more important that worrying about charging voltages.
I get along just fine with a single stage 13.4 converter and a 14.4 voltage from the engine when going down the road.......but I am thinking about a new converter so I don't have to run my generator quite as long to recharge.
