04 Winnie Brave 24 foot gasser bedroom slide issue.

Have a friend of mine with an 04 Winnie on a Ford chassis. His jacks and slides are hydraulic H.W.H.

Johns having issues with his bedroom slide. He tells me it will extend w/o issue BUT when he brings it back in it CLAWLS at a snails pace. He worried that one day it will refuse to oull in leaving him strandeed.

He tells me that he has had two different places look at it & they can't figure it out. He also told me that he has spoken to HWH & though very helpful they where at a loss why it comes in so slow.

One positive to this is that HWH will at least talk to him! If it was Power Gear he would be told to call a distributer. He also tells me that his voltages/batteries are all ok. Te fact that it extends at normal sped BUT is VERY SLOW pulling it back in.

Thanks

  • a simple test will help. open the retract valve for that room. hit the switch, if it comes in at the regular speed, replace the solenoids. hwh normally recommends both because of people replacing the wrong one. if you are sure of the right one, order just one. both make sure the job is done the first time.
also look at the seals. if one is out of place, it could also restrict movement one way. more likely to hang up one one side though. theres more pressure to push the ram out. about half bringing it in.

NO NEED TO USE CAPS Doug.

He told me he spoke with someone from HWH & I took his word for it, sorry.

I think I'll dig up a tad it more information on the HWH site, lots of information!

I'm sure someone else has had such an issue, thus the post.

I used caps because IF he talked to someone in HWH Tech service, they would NOT be at a loss to explain the problem and solution. You come to this forum for help., I GIVE you the exact info you require and you then ignore it and state you will go to HWH on line tech manuals(which is good because HWH has extensive troubleshooting on line manuals). Why come to this forum if you disregard the correct answer you need????? (Doug, HWH factory trained with over 30 years on HWH products).

  • 1. HWH WOULD KNOW IF HE TALKED TO SERVICE.
    2. One of the 2 solenoids (extend or retract is bad). Usually the Extend is bad for slow retraction. Doug
