  • I use my Eliminator/Xantrex 1000 watt pure sine wave inverter a lot and no complaints. Seems very good quality for the price. The draw at idle is .36 amps and there is no parasitic draw when turned off.

This inverter seems to run a 700 watt microwave OK, power source are 2 group 31 agm batteries.

It is also very quiet as it uses two variable speed fans that only come on after a while when it warms up.

It also shows the watts being used (not real accurate) and voltage which might be nice for those without any way to monitor their batteries.
  • Can Tire inverters are branded "Eliminator" which is their house brand.

Xantrex makes (supplies) the inverters to Can Tire. They also make the house brand inverters for some other chain stores in the USA.

Xantrex has their stuff made to Xantrex specs in a factory in one of Almot's other favorite places :)

ScottG - don't be upset that there is no CT in the US. It's like Autozone with Walmart camping aisle. Cr-appy Tire is of the names of that chain store. A lot of poor quality products, most are not worth time spend on buying. Home Depot is a few steps higher in terms of quality in tools and hardware. I am trying not to buy anything in CT, except for auto parts - they have a specialized department for that. Not because their parts are good, but because it's close to my home.

The link shows inverter by Motomaster, btw. Which is a no-name, almost an off-brand.
  • Hi,

The sunforce products are unfortunately, pretty much bottom of the barrel quality wise.
  • A few years ago (2009 was one) Can Tire sold a PSW 1000w that was made by SunForce. Their other inverters were/are made by Xantrex. The SunForce PSW 1000w one had two 500w receptacles, not one of which could do 1000w.

Later on, Can Tire switched to this Xantrex one which allows 1000w from either of its two receptacles or some combo of watts using both totalling 1000w.

I got mine two years ago when there was a thread about this model being on sale at the time. You don't really even need the wired remote (never mind a wireless) since it draws so little power itself you can just leave it on if you want. My 2000w inverter does have more of a standby draw though so its remote is more worth it.
  • Is the sunforce one the same one? I thought the CT one was made by xantrex? pretty sure it used to be. If so the sunforce one has a wireless remote that I don't believe is now included with the CT one.

I'm sorta waffling on this, I'd kind of like to have one just not sure if I'd use it much.

PS: we canucks would likely have to order from the amazon.ca site so it's $199 there.
  • I wish we had something like CT down here. What a great combination of products rolled into one store.
