Yes, I said earlier that the solar controller situation would start controlling too soon with voltage drop. However, IMO this is not the same as with a battery charger.
The issue of charging at the spec voltage at the battery is another thing. I can't see how that is possible as previously explained (battery voltage rises the whole time it is being charged, so how can you have constant voltage at its terminals? ) IMO the idea is to get the battery to the spec charging voltage, no amps flow ( so a full battery) before dropping to float.
