- mt1729ExplorerThank you all!
- Considering the unknowns I would set it at 14.4 volts.
- AlmotExplorer III... and google up your controller specs too.
Without all these details, you can't conclude that batteries were kept charged well, or that you should raise the voltage from now on. - 2oldmanExplorer IIGoogle up the batteries where you'll find charging specs.
- red31ExplorerI'd use 14.8 to 15 for active use and 14.6 or less for storage with monthly top charge of 15.
- mike-sExplorerIt's simply impossible to say without knowing what batteries you have, and without knowing what sort of charging profile(s) your controller supports.
- AlmotExplorer IIIIf your controller doesn't have 3 stages, you are both under doing and over doing it.
Stage 1 - voltage is rising from whatever it was in the morning, to 14.3-14.6 (depends on the battery).
Stage 2 - voltage is kept at 14.3-14.6, doesn't have to be all day, in storage it could be less than 30 minutes but it must get there once a day.
Stage 3 - voltage tapers down to 13-something and stays there until sunset. Wet batteries need 13.4-13.7 in this mode.
If there are any loads, having 3 stages becomes more important yet.
In any event, your batteries were kept charged but unlikely were kept charged well. - mt1729ExplorerAbout all I know about my controller is that the voltage is adjustable and the amps taper off as the batteries charge up. Both are wet cell batteries and I have 4 solar panels. 3-15 watt & 1-100 watt. It seems to have kept the batteries charged up good all this summer while parked in my yard and not plugged in. I just want to make sure I'm not over or under doing it. Thank you all for the replies. Guess I will turn the volts up a bit.

14.1 is just fine for bulk charging AGM batteries....but a bit low if you have wet cells.
Not my AGMs! One says 14.5 to 14.9 for charging and the other says 14.4 is good. - Ed_GeeExplorer II14.1 is just fine for bulk charging AGM batteries....but a bit low if you have wet cells.
