The unit is PFC and rated at a max input current of about 5a (specs only given for 230v but I emailed them to confirm).
The 14ga cord I ordered is rated at 15a, same as 14/2 wire in a house. I always use a surge protector with my chargers; well actually, with any gennie/shore power, for that matter.

I am curious about what gauge cord will come with the turnigy 1080w 60 amper I'm buying. It's rated at 12a ac, but that'll be a conservative rating, and is also based on 18v output; well above what i'll be running it at for boost/abs.
