110v vs 220v AC plug

Hi guys, my gophert cps 1620 arrived today, which operates on either 110 or 220v, switchable... but it came with a 220v plug. doh!

??? I actually no nothing about 220v, even though I've wired houses with 110. I've simply never needed to learn about it. It's 3 prong, so I'm guessing it uses two hot leads and one neutral? (no ground).

??? Is it just a matter of cutting off the plug and replacing it with a standard 3 prong 110 plug, and using the two hots as the hot and neutral, and the neutral as the ground?

thanks!

  • Before you go cutting off any plugs/doing any mods..........just call mfg. and inquire.

Doesn't manual have info on 110V vs 220V operation?

Use this typical camp ground pedestal wiring diagram for connecting up 50AMP an 30AMP connectors...

When finished with your new plug installation be sure to check the connector using this pictorial. It must read exactly as shown using a multimeter. DO NOT PLUG YOUR SHORE POWER INTO THE RECEPTACLE until this is verified otherwise it will do damage to some of your 120VAC appliances.

    50AMP

    30AMP

Another wiring view of the 30AMP receptacle.

Be very careful dealing with these connections.
