12 volt questions, how much is good?

LED burned up last night. Stunk pretty good.

I get 13.1 volts when checking the voltage where a LED connects into a 921 bulb base.

Question 1

Is 13.1 a good number?

Question 2

If 13.1 is a good number... I'm going to turn on all the other 12 volt on for this circuit.

What is the lowest number you would be happy with?

(Don't know if this helps or not...I'm plugged into a 30 amp plug, park has not had elec issues for long time).

  • IIRC, Dave Sparky, a Forum member tested some E Bay LED panels and they withstood 15 V. Right now, my banks are charged at 14.4V and I don't have any burn problems. Maybe you just lucked into a bad bulb or panel.
  • You need more expensive leds to withstand charging voltages.
  • 12.1V represents a 50% discharged battery and up to 14.8V charging. LED's w/o regulators may not handle this or greater voltage range.
