I listened in on a National Public Radio broadcast* that had a guest from the Sierra Club and another From (friends of the earth?). Both stated that lobbying was continuing to effect a ban on recreational vehicles in "sensitive ecological areas" National Parks, National Wildlife Reserves.
*thanks to a CCrane AM radio. The signal faded after an hour but I believe it was "KPBS"
Only a moron would continue to burn incandescent lamps when cheaper to operate diode or irradiating alternatives are available. It's called intrinsic control. There will be more platoons of state Hall Monitors earning $60K per year whose job it is to "make sure" some nefarious person does not smuggle light bulbs into California via the internet.
I have emergency 24 volt regular light bulbs in the generator shed. They MUST come on when the switch is thrown. No quirks, no glitches, no excuses. And these bulbs too will be banned. I suppose I can give China a few hundred dollars and purchase CREE 10-30 volt LED lamps. And they are not flood. Try and find a REGULATED 24-volt LED floodlight.
I do not have $60,000 per year to pay for electric consumption like Mr. Global Warming. Or buy a magic seashore mansion that will submarine when the ocean floods coastal areas. I am not a government employee who chants Carbon Tax! Carbon Credits! While purchasing tens of thousands of dollars of personal energy waste on a government credit card.
My personal energy use is most like one-hundredth that of chanting extremists who demand control over my life and time. When THEY learn to consume SEVENTY FIVE KILOWATTS OF ELECTRICITY PER MONTH - then come lecture me.
Seventy dollars to visit a National Park is an outrage. Let's make a deal. Allow people free access to National Parks if they are willing to donate 50 hours of personal labor (physical) improving trails, and maintaining lake level control dams. Chanting and physical labor are not compatible it seems.
Do more with less. Repair, refurbish, not replace. Screw recycling expensive electronics, make things modular and repairable. I just fitted this rental house with LED lamps I designed from scratch. I wear long sleeve shirts inside rather than burn used dinosaurs. The paper towels and trash cash contents do not appreciate being at 70F.
Why don't household refrigerators have integral brushless ball bearing fans blowing across the condenser. I just modified the Sears used REPAIRED refrigerator three months ago and it cuts energy consumption by fourteen percent.
"Hell No We Won't Go!" Wait that's not the one. "Sue that volcano!" Wait that doesn't work either. If aliens are monitoring this stuff they won't visit because they're probably afraid of laughing themselves to death.
