the US does not have to follow rules and ideas of OTHER countries whether that country is on the opposite side of the globe or abutting our borders.
With that I'm in 100% agreement. Just remember though, that cuts both ways.
The arguments about LEDs vs incandescents and electric cars vs. gas guzzlers will all be moot soon because people will buy what's cheapest and best performing. It won't be incandescents and it won't be gas guzzlers.
I also think it's silly to ban incandescent light bulbs. There are just too many laws. Let the market decide that there's a better alternative. OTOH, should there be laws banning coal fired electrical generation - **** straight.
But, where do you STOP?
Ban coal?
Yeah, what about Nuclear powered electric generation?
Talks about hugely "dirty" and not to mention expensive to build, maintain, decommission..
What about banning Hydro electric power generation, kills fish, ruins fish habitats, takes land away from people, reroutes water?
Yeah, that is "clean" NOT, in fact, many dams have been torn out due to environmentalists..
Well, how about solar panels?
Yeah, that is just as dirty as all the rest.. Making solar cells on a massive scale uses massive amounts of highly TOXIC chemicals, gasses and many materials which must be disposed of.. Not to mention the processes USE considerable amount of ELECTRICAL power..
Well then how about wind power?
Yeah, that is just as dirty, think about all the fiberglass and resin that goes into wind generator blades on a massive scale.
Wind and solar are also not reliable..
Perhaps you are one of the folks who think we should go back to the days of Tallow candles made from animal fat sitting around the open Hearth burning animal waste..
I for one, do not believe that man has ANY real effect on the NATURAL GLOBAL WEATHER CHANGES.
Temperature changes have been going on for many, many years before man ever walked on this earth and WILL continue on doing it whether man is here or not.
We cannot add or subtract from ALL of the natural elements which exist on this earth.. Even things we combine to make things like steel will eventually break down back to it's original form..
These man made "bans" amount to nothing more than one SMALL group of people CONTROLLING a larger group.. Costing money, making goods and services more expensive, creating more exclusivity.
I do however think that we should not WASTE natural resources, yrs ago, things were REPAIRED not thrown out.. Now days, virtually nothing is repaired, folks buy newer, shinier, faster stuff rather than repair something.
Buying a new thing just because you are tired of the old one is not good or wise use of resources but folks now days do..
If you like the laws and rules in Canada better, then move there.
If you like the laws and rules better in the US then stay there.
Just don't try to make the US melt into mediocrity of other countries..
There IS a reason people from nearly all countries tend to flock to the US rather than US citizens flocking to other countries..
