I need a new oneI am looking for a 12 volt air compressor that has clamp on terminals to a battery that is good for 100 PSI. I don't want one that plugs into a 12 volt receptacle. I also don't want an el cheapo like Wally world or Advance Auto sells. I have gone through too many of them. I would like to hear from people who have had one for about five years that has had lots of use. X2 on the Viair Stay away from the Quick Air III Have had the Viair permanent mounted in the rig for 5 year now - love it and Works great for cleaning dust and dirt as well as inflating floating inner tubes/mattress, rigs tires, toad and boat trailer tires, etc... Additionally installed an external 5 gallon holding tank and three regulated outlets. To get the rated 150psi the compressor will draw 25+ amps suggest you hard wire it rather than use clips on the battery.

We have been using this one for a while now. Faster than any I've had before. Will inflate a truck tire in 3 minutes. clicky

MV50 is used just a couple times a year max. IIRC 6 to 8 years old. Included carry case keeps it nice and it has always performed fine for topping off tires. Can't really say lots of heavy duty use. Generally I use a 120v unit at home before a trip.

I use Velcro, an elastic strap and Goop adhesive to mount stuff I don't want bouncing around. You can get everything but the Goop at a fabric store.

Good timing as I just burned up my Costco compressor this past week. Temp dropped while hunting and of course the tire pressure sensors on the truck wigged out.

Has anyone had any problems with the VIair unit not holding up to being left in the back of a pickup bed constantly. I worry that the bouncing around killing off the compressor more then using it. I would be leaving the unit in the bed under the tonneau cover.

I am using a permanently Viair compressor with a mounted 10 gallon tank and have had no problems with it.

I got the idea from my son who used the four Viair compressors and two air tanks in his car for his air bag suspension system. He always had enough air to hop his car. JMO
