What advantage do you think it gives you taking 4 12 Volt batteries and hooking them in series for a 48 V system ?? It really makes more sense using them to increase the capacity at 12 volts. Really.
A generator solves a LOT of problems.
But if you want to try and design a better mousetrap, there are quite a few on here who will help you implement whatever kind of setup you can imagine. That does not mean, however, that it is a good idea.
