The rule of thumb on charging the batteries is about 20AMPS per battery of charge capacity if you want to re-charge them using smart mode technology and wanting to get the job done in a quick three hour time frame..
My three batteries in parallel demands right at 53AMPS of DC Charge when I first hit them with 14.4VDC. If you dont have a charger big enough then this isnt going to happen in a three hour time frame and it may take many hours of charge time to get your batteries back to their 90% charge state so you can do it all over again for the next day/night camping run off the power grid..
If you don't get your batteries back up to the 90% charge state then you they will not perform as good as they should and you may not make it thru night before you have to charge them again.
Alot of camp grounds have generator run time restrictions so the game plan for me is get my batteries re-charged within the allowed times I can run my generator... Running the generator three hours a day to run my smart mode converter/charger unit is perfect for us...
It takes good planning to be successful camping off the power grid with batteries...
