What kind of draw are you talking about (amperage and duration)?
If it's a few seconds at a time to run a water pump a few times a day and they are good size deep cycle batteries, probably not a big deal.
If it's running, lights, TV, cable box and a few other things for several hours continously, it's more of a concern.
Trying to draw 12volts off both batteries would take some thought to make sure you aren't accidentally creating a 24V circuit or short circuiting between the batteries.
The DC/DC converter someone suggested is probably both simpler and more foolproof.
