I gave up utterly on the portable and installed a 5K window unit on the deck as the base for a night table. With my height while laying on the bed being around 26" and the unit on the deck, there is no cold air cascade from the overhead, and since thermal lamination occurs, I'll bet I'm saving >20% in energy costs.
Tripping over pair of ducting hoses is not in the forecast. Outside, condensate falls right into a planter of beefsteak tomatoes. I'd bet a Honda 2K IU would not even hiccup starting this load.
