Back in my cheapowatt PSU days, I wanted to be able to do 16 volts for EQ cycles as the cheapowatt maxed out at 15.27.
But then, I smoked the unregulated cheapowatt. It was rated for 350 watts and smoked itself providing 538 watt at 17 minutes. RIP little buddy.
Anyway, This arrived in the mail yesterday via a slow boat from China, and I just got to play with it.
I was a bit surprised how small this device is. a 60MM fan could be attached to the heatsinks perfectly. I took a couple 12v fans upto 36 volts, but right about the 32 volt level they stop spinning faster and they got a bit stinky above 24v.
The trim pot is kind of ridiculous, like 25 turns to go from 14.7 to 35 volts.
At battery voltage of 12.5v, it was able to go as low as 11.9v, which was unexpected.
I don't really know what I am going to use this for. I now own a MeanWell RSP-500-15 switching power supply which can go upto 19.23v.
My 19v laptop has a weird third pin inside the barrell connector, and if this pin is absentor its separate wire compromised, the laptop will not charge.
I have not tested this device anywhere close to the 150 watt rating.
What would be similar to use to step down 17 or 18V to 16V? And if you have a 150amp hour battery, where does one find a 12V 75Watt light bulb? I am thinking about this for a 7 amp 120W 12V solar panel application. ;-)
