That's the best reason to not refill these things. You will save a few dollars in exchange for the possibility of starting a fire, or ending up in low earth orbit ;)
Nearly all gas appliances that use small bottles can be adapted to a hose and larger tank.
I found
this thread on an ice fishing forum--if anybody knows about propane it's ice fishermen--that details some of the problems, including overfilling, that one can encounter refilling these one-use disposable cans.
