1992 Newmar Kountry Star

I have a 1992 Newmar Kountry Star RV that is having some problems. It starts easily but within a minute or two, the check engine light comes on, then the engine dies. Have replaced the MAF sensor and the throttle position sensor. Also replaced the pickup coil in the distributor.

I have been unable to locate the diagnostic port, to see why the check engine light is coming on.

Anyone have any idea where they hid the diagnostic port on this thing?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • After the engine runs for a minute or so, it starts to sputter like it is starving for fuel. I thought that possibly the fuel pump was going bad, but a fuel pressure gauge shows that the fuel pressure is steady around 40 psi. Checked that the air flow was unobstructed, and it is getting air just fine. A spark tester shows a strong spark, right up until the check engine light comes on, then the spark weakens, the engine sputters, then dies.

I have searched for the diagnostic plug to try to determine why the light is coming on, but have been unable to locate it. I know if is the older style that will require jumpering and reading the flashing light, but I just can't seem to find it.

It is a Ford 460 engine.

    Thanks,

  • Description of symptom is incomplete

    It dies...

In detail describe what happens from there, please...
  • best advice i can offer
look up your chevy 454 P30 chassis
    or Ford 460 f53 chassis ?
    by the year and chassis
get the manual and go from there
  • Your rig is probably on a 1991 Chassis OBD II did not come out until 1993 at the earliest IIRC
