Enblethen, or anyone else following this.. It seems my adventure is on going. We did get the engine running and it seemed pretty well. Left shop last Tuesday to continue my trip, went to filling station filled up on fuel, stopped by some friends and thanked them for input and time, then went to Laundry to do some cloths almost out. All this done at 30-40 mph but all short runs. Finally left to go on at about 15 miles down the road at 55 mph, it started backfiring and running rough. I slowed down to around 30 mph and it kept running, trying to find place to pull off.. If I stepped on gas it would either backfire or stop running. Finally made it to gas station and pulled off. Took me till Friday to get it pulled back to shop where we put Timing Chain on. In the mean time I rode my bike to an Auto Parts store and bought a new in line fuel filter for it, I installed it thinking it may be clogged. I could start engine but if I let off gas it would not idle, it quit. If I kept gas pedal about 1/4 down it would run but it surged in rpm up & down. Could not drive it.. any suggestions appreciated!!!
