1995 Georgie Boy- Cruise Air 34'

Newbie here, searched threads and couldn't find anything on this so forgive me if this is a duplicate.

My slide (electric motor- RBW Industries slide) would not slide out the slide after replacing a motor that had broken the casting. It would/will slide out about 2 inches and stop. Then upon pushing the switch again it will slide back in. I have to assume there is a controller of some sort that is reading the amperage and it actually thinks the slide is all the way out. I have not found this controller (hoping for someone to help me out...) so can't comment on it. I manually pushed slide out so it shouldn't be a binding issue(mechanical. I used an axillary battery attached to the leads and operated the slide out as well. At the coach leads I am reading about 12.5 volts without the motor load(motor not attached). Prior to the slide motor breaking (the overhung cast aluminium support of the output shaft broke off) the slide went in and out this season many times. So I am kind of thinking it is not a battery supply issue (bad ground, etc... of course can't rule that out as it can happen at any time.) I am currently charging the coach batteries for a day to see if that will help out so will try to move the slide again tomorrow.

Really I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this sort of problem. I am wondering if anyone knows where to look for the controller, and I am wondering if there is a way to "bypass" the existing system with circuit breakers or something... I would like to keep the slide automatic so someone doesn't accidentally over-extend or over-retract the slide.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!

  • Update. So no change after charging batteries. Finally found controller hidden under false floor in bottom of pantry. I will be playing around with it again this weekend... Hope this helps someone out there!!
  • Broken casting?

    Moves a little then stops?

    Too many coincidences for me.

Time to make sure the unit is not BINDING UP and blowing a breaker open.

I have a 1996 Georgie Boy Swinger, so I don't know if it is the same system. Mine has a manual extension an retraction with a hand crank. I would use the hand crank and see if there is any resistance when you extend and retract the slide by hand. The manual tells you how to adjust. I spray silicone on the tracks and rollers to keep it moving freely.
