These small 2 cycle engines can be problematic as they operate right on the edge of fuel delivery--> engine consumption. When I was repairing them, many would be brought in with the high speed jet either loose enough to fall out or tightened so hard the needle was bent. After Mfgs started putting in the plastic jet stops, the issues with bad adjustment started to diminish but were still present. It is often the last thing a homeowner does to try a fix for their non-operating 2 cycle engine.
BTW, Echo and Homelite, to name two, are infamous for installing less than worthy fuel lines. Replacing them with Tygon hoses is easy and a worthwhile maintenance procedure.
