The thing is, to correctly clean the carb, you need to remove the carb and hoses, anyway. At that point, you have both fuel lines half off. Last year, I replaced the fuel lines on my three string trimmers. As I get problems with a 2 cycle, I just replace the lines while fixing another problem. It is one less thing to worry about or cause a problem.
The tank filters I usually clean with a spray can of cleaner.
good advice here. You can bend a hook on the end of a wire and pull the fue;l filter out thru the fuel tank opening. See if it is clogged or doesn't flow well. They can look fine but be totally varnished up.
Then look at the fuel lines.
