Produces up to 26 lbs. of ice in 24 hours.
I've got a similar product. It produces a lot of ice pretty quickly, but has limited storage. - MrWizardModeratorgood price
our first ice maker cost $90 lasted 5yrs
replaced it last yr with one that cost just over $100
I offer one tip
the bigger and heavier the ice maker, the quicker it gets up to speed making and cycling the largest size
the new one has the same rating as the old one
different brands
the new is smaller and a lot lighter in weight
takes longer to make the same 2 (1) gallon zip bags of ice
which is what i usually make and store in the fridge
for those that plug it in and leave it on all week end, it won't make much difference
just us dry camp folks that want to make and store ICE while the genset is running
and yes, i have run them from inverter, but i try to avoid that
uses more power than the fridge - dcg9381ExplorerThe main impediment on these is that they contain about 2 lbs of ice - mine does enough for about 3 big cups... You're not going to fill a cooler (very easily) using these.
- MrWizardModeratordefinitely not for quick filling a cooler
but great for avoiding going to the store to get ice for drinks
makes ice faster than a fridge ice maker, but doesn't store it and freeze it hard
great for parties, bars, etc..
and good for making ice too store in the freezer, more and faster than ice trays
3 hrs twice a week keeps us in ice, for ice tea, soda, punch etc..
we don't keep these items in the fridge or a cooler
IF you fill a cooler with bagged ice, you can maybe use this to keep the cooler full of ice - Kayteg1Explorer IIPaid for one of those over $200 about 10 years ago.
Perfect ice maker for party (used it at home as well) but you need to learn how that thing works.
It takes water from big tank, freeze the ice rings on cooling pins and drops into the tray above water tank.
When you fill up 80F water, the rings will melt in the seconds, but next tray of ice rings follow in couple of minutes and slowly whole maker will get cooler and cooler, so at some point the ice rings will stay in the tray for long time before they melt.
The ice has 32F temperature all the time, so not the best for coolers, but perfect for drinks.
Give it about 2 hr head start and you will like it. - SaltiDawgExplorer"Bin stores 2.2 lbs of ice"

Same here
I read the ad,,, it only stores 2.2 pounds so if you want 20 pounds in 24 hours you have to empty it every 2 hours.
I like mine, it makes JUST enough Ice.. What I do not like is the fact that I dropped and broke my Brita water filter... So I brought home a used PUR.. Turns out the Brita cartridges fit (Who'd a thunk it) So I can use up my Britas and then buy what's made for it, Does not fit the fridge as well though, Brita is about 1/2 inch shorter. - CJW8Explorer

Using water out of the fridge like you do (I do too) makes a load of ice a couple of minutes faster.
