2000i microwave compatable?

I need a microwave oven that is compatable with the honda 2000i. The genset will not run my 1100 watt panosonic microwave even though I by pass the main power panel and plug it straight to the microwave.

I have a internal 4KW genset but would not prefer to use it.

What brand and wattage micowave will work with the honda 2000i wired though the main power panel?

thank you experts!

  • Sorry didn't get back on this earlier, messed up my leg motorcycling and couldn't walk for 3 months.

The advice about lowering the power of the microwave inverter works great. I can set the power to 40% with econ on and run it through the trailer power panel or 50% straight into the microwave. So I have full microwave with shore power and diminished power with the 2000i. I'm happy I don't need a 700 watt microwave.

Thank you all for you advice.

Our 1100 watt home microwave draws about 1600VA. That''s pretty much the limit for a honda 2000. You'd need to turn virtually everything else in the trailer off, including the charger. The panasonic inverter models all should run off the honda 2000. You would need to turn the power level down some on the 1100 watt model but since they actually vary the magentron output rather than cycling between 0 and 100% power you can run it off the honda 2000. In fact we run the panasonic 950w small inverter model off a 1000W sine wave inverter. Just set the power level to 50% or less and it runs fine. At 50% power it draws 850VA.
  • Mine does it just fine but as said before, it's best to turn off the eco because of the huge surge that's needed. But if you don't it will still do it - my DW does it all the time. :/
  • Our old HTT had a Dometic MW that my Honda 2000i would run. Haven't tried it on the new TT yet.
  • If this is a Panasonic "inverter" microwave I would think you could run it at reduced power, like 80% or 90%, on the eu2000i. To answer the question directly, most 1000 and 1100 watt microwaves do work with the eu2000i. They push it pretty close to its limit, so it's often necessary to cut the other AC loads. I'm assuming you weren't trying to run the microwave at a high altitude, which would add another factor to the overall situation.
  • my GE MW ,1100 cooking watts, 1675 input watts will run from a 2000/1600 inverter genset
provided i turn off the converter/charger and all other 120v loads

    oh, turn off econ mode
on some gensets the 'speed up' to full power is too slow with econ on
this stalls the genset engine or trips the overload signal

You think if it says 1100W on microwave, then this is what it draws? 1100w rating is the "cooking power" so that a cook would know how fast it can do the job. Its actual power drawn at 120V is probably 1,600-1,700W. With other small items running at the same time, total draw can be close to 2,000W or more, so your Honda can't do. Get 700W rated microwave like this one.. Better yet, use the propane stove. Microwave does poor cooking job, and mediocre re-heating, drying the food out.
  • Your 2000w Honda gen that will do 1600w continuous, will easily run an 1100 MW. The problem must be that you have more load that you think on the Honda. Usually, that is the converter trying to recharge the batteries, and the fridge and/or the WH still not on gas,
